Marieke Flament has announced her resignation as the CEO of the NEAR Foundation, two years after taking on the role. The foundation’s general counsel, Chris Donovan, will step in as CEO. However, Flament will continue to serve as a strategic advisor until the end of the year and will remain on the advisory board.
Former CEO’s Contributions to NEAR Documented
Since Flament’s participation as CEO, the protocol’s user count has surged from 50,000 to 2.5 million. NEAR protocol currently ranks 34th in terms of total value locked (TVL). Additionally, last September, the NEAR Foundation established a $100 million venture capital fund with Caerus Ventures.
It has been reported that the treasury of the Near Foundation reached $350 million during Flament’s tenure.
Speaking about her tenure, Flament said, “Two years ago, I had never heard of NEAR. Upon doing a bit of research and after several conversations it became clear that NEAR had a tremendous potential – fantastic tech, a diverse and vibrant community, and a world of open possibilities, and so I joined.” She stepped down after these remarks.
