CME Group intends to add more cryptocurrency options to its standard and micro-sized Bitcoin and Ether contracts, effective May 22, subject to regulatory approval. The new contracts will allow expiries to be accessible Monday through Friday during the working week.

The largest derivatives marketplace in the world, CME Group, today announced intentions to add more cryptocurrency options to its standard- and micro-sized Bitcoin and Ether contracts starting on May 22, subject to regulatory approval. With these new contracts, expiries will be accessible Monday through Friday during the working week.

“We are pleased to offer these new options contracts to provide market participants with greater precision and versatility in managing short-term bitcoin and ether price risk,” said Giovanni Vicioso, CME Group Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products. “Against a backdrop of heightened market volatility in the digital asset sector, we continue to see clients turn to a trusted, regulated venue like CME Group for reliable and efficient cryptocurrency risk management products.”

Options on Bitcoin and Ether futures with new expiries on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be made available. Tuesday and Thursday expirations will be added to the current Monday, Wednesday, and Friday contracts for options on micro-sized Bitcoin and Ether futures. The present monthly and quarterly expiries offered across all Bitcoin and Ether options on futures contracts will be supplemented by all of these new offerings.
