Chinese President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
During the conversation, they discussed the tensions in the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine and the issue of Crimea. Xi emphasized the need for the relationship between the two countries to reflect the fundamental principles of mutual respect, justice, and win-win cooperation.
The President of China called for efforts to resolve problems through dialogue and negotiations.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian side discussed the situation in Crimea, Russia’s annexation of Crimea, and the tensions in the region. Zelenskiy emphasized the need for respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The two leaders also exchanged views on trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The Chinese President stated that China will continue to invest in Ukraine and help deepen the economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
On the other hand, the press office of the Ukrainian Presidency stated that Zelenskiy expressed hope that China could assist in the peace efforts in the Donbas region of Ukraine.
