Hester Peirce, a member of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a prominent advocate for crypto assets, called on the SEC to move more quickly in establishing a regulatory framework and providing clarity to crypto companies in an interview with Cointelegraph.
The Crypto Industry Must Grow in the US
Peirce also stated that the crypto industry should continue to grow in the United States and that the complexities of this process can be overcome.
However, Peirce had expected the commission to be further along in regulations for cryptocurrencies, but she criticized the current state, saying, “I haven’t seen much change for the better.”
Won’t Comment on Which Cases the SEC is Dealing With
Peirce also noted that she couldn’t comment on which cases the SEC is dealing with. However, she encouraged companies in the crypto industry to engage with the commission and provide concrete suggestions that could help them establish a roadmap.
“Don’t give up on the U.S. This too shall pass, the confusion will pass. The United States is a good place to build things, and I want it to remain that way. But come forward with very concrete ideas, think of concrete ways you need clarity.”
