Axie Infinity Creator Sky Mavis Aims to Expand by Partnering with Four New Game Studios

Sky Mavis announced that four-game studios would build and launch games on the Ronin Network, with the aim of creating their own local gaming ecosystem by releasing these games to the market.

Last year, Axie Infinity suffered a massive hack attack, resulting in a loss of $625 million. The company struggled to recover for an extended period, taking several steps to compensate for the situation. Now, a significant move has been made by Sky Mavis, the company behind the popular blockchain game.

Sky Mavis announced that four-game studios would build and launch games on the Ronin Network, with the aim of creating their own local gaming ecosystem by releasing these games to the market.

It has also been reported that the team announced the transition to a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism for the Ronin blockchain. Sky Mavis’s co-founder and CEO, Trung Nguyen, explained:

“With the upgrade to DPoS, we are ready to open up our infrastructure and technology to the wider Web3 world. We believe that this is the path toward creating gaming that’s community-centric, more rewarding, and above all, more fun.”

Sky Mavis’s Head of Business Development, Kathleen Osgood, told Cointelegraph that the team had reviewed 250 game studios before deciding on the ones announced. According to Osgood, studios from various niches in the gaming space were chosen to achieve the goal of “including as many people as possible in the ecosystem.”

In conclusion, Sky Mavis, the company behind Axie Infinity, is taking significant steps to recover from last year’s massive hack by expanding its gaming ecosystem through partnerships with four-game studios on the Ronin Network. Adopting a delegated proof-of-stake consensus mechanism also indicates Sky Mavis’s commitment to enhancing its infrastructure and technology. By embracing the broader Web3 world and focusing on creating community-centered, rewarding, and enjoyable gaming experiences, the company aims to attract more players and foster a diverse, thriving ecosystem.
