ApeCoin Community Divided Over Multi-Link Ape NFTs

Aaron Leupp presented the AIP-206 proposal on January 13th, which aimed to create 20,000 items from two collections: the Ape Coin Armory Club and the Ape Coin Pet Club. The collections aimed to bring ApeCoin to the Metaverse, provide more benefits, and promote growth.

Recently, ApeCoin DAO made a decision regarding the introduction of two new NFT collections.

In the proposal, Leupp stated, “We are open to all discussions, criticisms, feedback, opposing views, and thoughts because we really want to be part of such a pioneering initiative and continue to prove ourselves.” With a proposed project cost of $168,000, Leupp aimed to design collections similar to The Sandbox [SAND] and Decentraland [MANA].

The Proposal was put to a Vote

Approximately 89% of voters rejected the proposal, while only 6.92% supported it. Although the vote is likely to result in rejection, the voting process is ongoing. The proposal aimed to offer ownership of these items to the community for free and provide opportunities for BAYC, MAYC, and other collection owners to pivot. The rejection of the AIP-206 proposal is an indication of how important consultation and community decision-making are, even in a decentralized environment.
